It's not just a matter of imagination to create a colorful palette on something as sweet as chocolate

This is the legendary structural color, which does not depend on pigments or other additives.

To make the iridescent chocolate, a product developer speculates, the researchers created a nanotech chocolate mold, using electron beam lithography to etch lines about 100 nanometers wide on a glass or silicon mold.

This structural color isn't the first time it's been seen on food, it's sometimes seen on cooked beef as well

The researchers hope to bring this coloring technique to the mass market
