In this study, the team developed a functional magnetic resonance imaging signal based on the functional connection of the whole brain to track the intensity of experimentally-induced tension pain, and tested its effect through six studies (n=334 in total) The sensitivity, specificity and generality of clinical pain.

Tension pain and clinical pain showed similar network-level performance, especially in the attentional network of body movement, forehead and back.

This kind of tension pain signal based on functional connection has the potential of clinical translation.
