High-purity quartz sand for photovoltaics is obtained from high-purity silica (quartz sandstone, quartzite, vein quartz or siliceous raw materials) after beneficiation and purification.
It is used to produce single crystal silicon, polycrystalline silicon, quartz glass, quartz crucible, and silicon dioxide.
The main raw materials of high-performance materials such as thin films can be used in the fields of electronic technology, aerospace, optical fiber communications, and military industry

, China Electronic Technology Standardization Research The national standard "High Purity Quartz Sand for Photovoltaic Use" drafted by the Institute and implemented in November 2016 (standard number: GB/T 32649-2016), the technical requirements for quartz sand are as follows
    .

Appearance The high-purity quartz sand used for photovoltaics should be white particles with a certain degree of transparency and no different colors
    .

Particle size The particle size of high-purity quartz sand for photovoltaics should be in the range of 70μm~350μm, and the cumulative mass fraction in this particle size range should be greater than or equal to 90%
    .

The cumulative mass fraction of particle size less than 100μm or greater than 300μm should be less than 1%
    .

Silicon dioxide content The silicon dioxide content in high-purity quartz sand for photovoltaics should be greater than or equal to 99.
99%, and the ignition loss should be less than or equal to 0.
    01%
    .

Impurity element content The total impurity element content of high-purity quartz sand for photovoltaics should be less than or equal to 25μg/g, and the total content of potassium, lithium, and sodium should be less than 2.
    5μg/g.
The content of each impurity element should meet the requirements of the following table
    .
