A diverse panel of 386 researchers, clinicians and policy advisors from 112 countries and territories proposes health and social initiatives
to end this ongoing global threat.
The expert team calls on different societies and governments to adopt a coordinated strategy and take concrete actions to ensure the equitable distribution
of vaccines around the world.
Jeffrey Lazarus of the University of Barcelona in Spain and others have analysed lessons learned over the past three years to propose the most effective measures
to end the coronavirus public health threat through a rigorous consensus-building approach.
This multidisciplinary international team of experts is made up of 386 experts from different fields and perspectives from different cultural backgrounds
.
They made a total of 41 consensus statements and 57 recommendations, grouped into six broad categories: communication, health systems, vaccination, prevention, treatment and inequality
.
For example, they pointed out that vaccines are a major tool to deal with the new crown pneumonia, but vaccines alone cannot end the threat
of the new crown to public health.
They recommend a "vaccine+" regimen that includes COVID vaccination, preventive measures, treatment actions and financial incentives
.
They also recommend multisectoral collaboration, including community leaders, scientific experts and public health authorities, to increase trust among
different communities.
In addition, they stressed the need to eliminate inequality in the pandemic, such as the unequal distribution of vaccines, if the epidemic is truly brought to an end
.
