    New anti-aging target gene has been discovered

    The Cai Shiqing Research Team of the Center for Brain Science and Intelligent Technology Innovation (Neuroscience Research Institute) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with the Jiang Lubin Research Team of the Pasteur Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shanghai, conducted the first genome-wide genetic screening based on behavior degradation in the aging process, and discovered a new anti-aging target, providing a new theoretical basis and target for delaying brain aging. The results were recently published online in Nature.
    researchers combined a database of gene expression in two models of animal and human brains, using a database of beautiful cryptodes, mice, to select genes that regulate aging at the genome-wide level, obtain 59 candidate genes, and build a network of interactions between these candidate genes. They found that two of the overtly genetic regulatory factors, baz-2 and set-6, were located at key nodes of the regulatory network and were mainly expressed in the nervous system. The results showed that reducing the function of baz-2 and set-6 can significantly improve the neurotransmitter level of elderly nematodes and delay the degeneration of nematode behavior during aging. The ygenes of baz-2 and set-6 were BAZ2B and EHMT1, respectively. In the human brain, the expression of BAZ2B and EHMT1 increased with aging and was positively related to the progression of Alzheimer's disease.
    researchers believe that BAZ2B and EHMT1 are important factors in regulating the aging process, are new anti-aging targets, and are likely to regulate the process of mental decline in Alzheimer's disease. (Source: He Jing, China Science Journal)
