    WASHINGTON, June 19
Xinhua) -- A new study of people in Italy and Spain suggests that the risk of new coronavirus infection may be related to blood type, with people with type A blood more likely to be infected with the new coronavirus and people with type O less likely to feel it.
study was published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Researchers from Germany, Spain, Italy, Norway and other countries conducted genome-wide correlation studies and meta-analysis of about 1,600 new coronary patients and about 2,200 control groups in Italy and Spain.
results, the researchers not only found a new coronavirus susceptible gene in patients with neo-coronary disease, but also found that the ABO blood type system may be associated with the risk of new coronary infection. The analysis showed that the risk of new coronary infection was 45% higher in the A-type blood group than in the non-A blood population, and 35% lower in the O-type blood population.
researchers say the biological mechanisms behind this may be related to N-polysaccharose and antibody differences and genetic variations in different blood groups, and further research is needed to determine whether the findings will help assess the clinical risk of new crown patients.
