Global Witness, a British-based non-governmental organization, has investigated and verified that large, domestic companies such as JBS, Marfrig and Minerva, as well as the world's leading Brazilian multinationals, have bought herds directly from illegal farms in the state of Pará in the past three years, and the Sao Paulo Page newspaper has sent people to investigate.
