    November 2020 Japan's sea product import and export statistics

    Japan's December trade statistics showed that total exports of sea products in the first 11 months of last year were 1.94 million tons, down 8% from a year earlier, Safeood News reported on January 22.
    Exports of fresh and frozen salmon and trout in November were 26,468 tonnes, up 17 per cent year-on-year, while exports of fresh and frozen tuna were 16,076 tonnes, down 8 per cent year-on-year, and squid exports were 11,359 tonnes, down 20 per cent year-on-year.
    $1.26 billion in November, down 11% from a year earlier.
    Imports of fresh and frozen tuna were $108 million, up 5 per cent year-on-year, while imports of fresh and frozen salmon and trout were $185 million, down 2 per cent year-on-year, and imports of fresh and frozen shrimp were $155 million, down 17 per cent year-on-year.
    Imports of frozen salmon in November were 16,806 tonnes, up 16 per cent year-on-year, with fresh and chilled salmon imports of 1,679 tonnes, down 4 per cent year-on-year, silver salmon accounting for the vast majority of frozen salmon, imports of 12,509 tonnes, up 17 per cent year-on-year, and Norwegian Atlantic salmon imports of 1,276 tonnes, down 6 per cent year-on-year.
    Of the frozen tuna imported, imports of large-eye tuna increased by 31% Year-on-Year, and imports from China tripled to 2,126 tons;
    imports of warm water shrimp decreased by 7% to 15,027 tons, while imports of cooked shrimp decreased by 10% to 5,968 tons, and imports of pink shrimp decreased by 13% to 895 tons.
    in the South, imports from India fell 36 per cent as a result of the production cuts, while imports of Argentine shrimp rose 53 per cent in October and November.
    Imports of mackerel decreased by 15 per cent to 19,355 tons, while imports of flying squid decreased by 32 per cent to US$57.83 million, while imports of flying squid decreased by 15 per cent to 9,679 tons, and imports of mackerel tripled to 2,298 tons, while imports of mackerel decreased by 48 per cent to 2,156 tons.
