The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in its monthly drilling productivity report that oil production in the Eagle Beach shale region of South Texas is expected to grow at its fastest pace in nine months in May. Oil production in the Eagle Beach shale region will reach 1.3 million bpd in May, 24,000 bpd higher than this month, the data showed. The Eagle Beach shale region, which has the second-highest oil production, still lags far behind west Texas's Bixie Basin, the largest U.S. oil producer, which will produce 3.2 million barrels per day next month, up 73,000 barrels per day from this month. But some analysts predict that oil production growth in the Eagle Beach shale may soon begin to grow faster than in the Bi-Layer basin, given the problems of the Bi-Era, including insufficient pipelines and other infrastructure.
