Beijing BEIJING, April 7 (Reporter Sun Zifa) China Ke Xueyuan Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology XU Guang-hui ancient human research team recently found that 244 million years ago, a large, carnivorous finfish backbone of new research in the disk City, Guizhou Province The similar fossil, named "Panzhou storm fish", it represents the oldest fossil new evidence of the wartodon family so far.

    Academy of Sciences

Researcher Xu Guanghui received an exclusive interview with a reporter from Chinanews.

Chinese scientists’ new discovery of "Panzhou storm fish" and related research results were published online in the international academic journal PeerJ on the same day, revealing the previously unknown diversity of ecological adaptations of the triassic fish, and also updated people’s understanding of the Triassic ocean.

Xu Guanghui said that "Panzhou storm fish" was the first discovery of the genus Panzhou in Guizhou.

In terms of functional morphology analysis, "Panzhou storm fish" has a slightly slower swimming speed than other wartodon fishes, but its swimming balance performance is better, which is conducive to movement and predation in complex environments such as submarine reefs.

The eye-catching humpback shape of the "Panzhou Stormfish" was discovered for the first time in the Colobodidae, and it was also found for the first time in Asia's backbone neofin fish.

The basic neofin fish have high biodiversity in the Triassic, and they are important fossil evidence for studying the marine ecosystem after the end of the Permian era.

Xu Guanghui pointed out that in the past, the wartyfish were mainly found in the marine environment of the Middle and Late Triassic in Europe, represented by the wartyfish.
