PPG Industry releases annual automotive color trend report

In order to better respond to the rising demand for color innovation in automotive coatings, PPG has selected 64 exterior colors for automotive manufacturers to provide design references for new models in 2018-2019.
The series is named "Enhancement" and covers four major color trend themes:

?Hyper HD is a colorful and strong theme, advocating to show individuality, emphasizing performance and modern technology.
The theme combines the exaggerated colors of the virtual and real worlds, presenting a lively color effect-combining dazzling bright tones with a layered effect formed by a three-layer painting.

?IM perfect theme adopts a pun name (it has two meanings: "I am perfect" and "Imperfect").
It recognizes the imperfection and authenticity of the individual.
As long as you enjoy life, live out yourself, and pay attention to health, this is a kind of perfection.
This color theme is influenced by nature and includes softer colors such as leaf green and brass.

?Knight's Watch takes the fortress as the theme, and gives people a sense of peace of mind, safety and stability through traditional colors that represent shelter and confidence.
Like a guard who guards silently, this theme conveys the visual effect of strength and protection with dark, classic jewelry tones and blackened metallic colors.

?Lucid Dreams expresses the meaning of calm, sensitivity, and seclusion, depicting a paradise away from the burden of technology with a smooth and elegant design.
This theme is composed of refreshing and soft tones such as metallic white, mint green, oxidized gold/beige, sky blue and so on.

PPG has 20 color experts around the world who focus on the automotive, construction, aerospace and consumer goods markets.
The expert team analyzes design trends, consumer preferences and purchasing tendencies according to the characteristics of different regions, cultures and global markets, thereby identifying various factors that affect future color choices.
