DNA methylation is an overt genetic phenomenon that plays an important role in the occurrence, development and treatment of human diseases. Junsheng Liu, Jun Liu, Xichun Peng, and others from the Department of Food Science and Engineering at Jinan University Polytechnic Institute of Technology studied the exogencic genetic mechanism of jaundice polysaccharide (APS) to improve osteoporosis in rat models.
results showed that APS significantly altered the dna methylation group of colon endoskin cells. Gene enrichment analysis based on differential methylation sites (DMSs) shows that APS causes changes in gene initiation DNA methylation associated with calcium stabilization, bone-breaking cell/osteoblast balance, Wnt signaling, and hormone-related processes. Further analysis showed a high degree of consistency in APS-induced changes in the gene methylation of colon endotylation cells and their effects on diabetes, viral infections and wound healing (relevant studies have been reported). In addition, the researchers proposed new functions and mechanisms of APS in heart disease, neurological diseases, reproductive problems, and olfactory disorders. In this study, the authors provided APS to improve the pregenital genetic mechanisms of osteoporosis. More importantly, a reliable method has been proposed and demonstrated to explore the beneficial effects of bioactive polysaccharides by studying CHANGEs in DNA methylation in non-focus areas. The author thinks that this method is highly efficient, fast and economical, and can explore the possible beneficial or therapeutic effects of functional large molecules through a single experiment.
