Recently, the resource insect conservation team of the Institute of Bees of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences cooperated with the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Institute of Hemp of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences to make new progress in bee filamentovirus genomics and proteomics, providing basic information
for future molecular research on the virus.
The results were published in Virologica Sinica
    .

Italian honey bee filamentovirus (AmFV) is a large DNA virus thought to be associated with colony failure and is commonly infected
in Western bee colonies such as the United States, Switzerland, and France.
Our team first detected the presence of bee filovirus in Chinese bees in China in 2016, and reported the distribution and infection
of the virus in China in 2017.
In 2022, the virus was isolated and purified from the Chinese honey bee colony, named AmFV CN, and its genomics and proteomics were studied
    .
The results showed that this strain contained a linear genome of ~492,752 bp, encoding 197 ORFs
    .
Of these, 47 ORFs are associated with virions, and 6 PIFs may play a role
in viral infection as entry factors for AmFV infection.

    The research was supported
by projects such as the State Key Laboratory of Virus Development Fund and the Natural Science Foundation.
