On December 8, 2009, the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued the animal feed label; the main contents of the certified colorant statement are as follows: the food and Drug Administration (FDA) proposed to revise its regulations on the certified colorant statement on animal feed, including animal feed and pet food labels FDA proposes this amendment in response to the nutrition labeling and education act of 1990 (the 1990 Amendment), which amends the federal food, drug, and Cosmetic Act (the act) by requiring, among other things, the listing of generic or customary names on food labels for all colorants requiring FDA certification An additional purpose of this amendment is to bring these regulations into line with the regulations regarding the declaration of colorants certified on the label of human food The proposal also suggests the appropriate terminology for the declaration of exemption from certification of colorant on the label of animal food The proposed approval date and the proposed effective date are to be determined, and the deadline for submission of opinions is 2010 / 02 / 22.
