Researchers discovered the endangered plant Kailan for the first time in Tengchong, Yunnan

According to reports, the Tengchong Branch of Baoshan Management and Protection Bureau of Gaoligongshan National Nature Reserve in Yunnan Province has discovered a wild population of Cymbidium in the Gaoligongshan Mountains.

The populations of these two species of Cyanopsis plants discovered this time were recorded for the first time in Tengchong City, adding two important new recorded plant species to the southern section of Gaoligong Mountain

Orchidaceae is a terrestrial herb, very rarely epiphytic, with only one leaf and a single flower, and the entire plant is only a few centimeters high

The field populations of the Himalayan Kailan in this investigation are distributed on two hills, along the ridge and both sides of the mountain slopes at an altitude of 1790-1860 meters.

According to the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) assessment criteria of threatened species, the threat level of Himalayan Kylan is non-threatening (LC), and the threat level of Kylan is endangered (EN)

According to local forest rangers, since these two mountains are not within the protected area, local villagers often go up to the mountains to chop wood, graze, and collect fungi, causing serious human interference

In 2018, the Tengchong Branch of the Gaoligong Mountain Reserve discovered the largest Dali Kailan population in the reserve so far.
