A new policy outline outlines recommendations for testing to identify endocrine disruptors (EDs)

EDs are primarily man-made chemicals that affect the body's hormone system

EURION is a collaboration of 8 research projects in Europe focused on developing methods and detection strategies to address dysfunctions caused by EDs, including metabolic, cerebral, thyroid and reproductive dysfunctions

Existing regulations require ED assessments for pesticides and antimicrobials, but the updated legislation will soon require thousands of industrial chemicals to meet the same requirements

A brief explanation of EDs policy and public health issues, including obesity, diabetes, neurodevelopmental delays and reproductive disorders, and each of the eight EURION research projects will support the development of internationally coordinated strategies and guidelines for EDs testing and assessment of these associated health risks
