Original title: Salt should also be added warning words
Recently, the World High Blood Pressure Alliance and other international health organizations recommended that salt packaging should be marked with similar warnings to cigarettes.
. Norm Campbell, former president of the World Alliance on Hypertension, said: "Unhealthy diet is the leading cause of death worldwide, with an estimated 3 million people dying from eating too much salt in 2017. The World Health Organization has set targets for countries to reduce salt intake by 30 per cent by 2025, and governments and the food industry have been working to reduce salt content in processed foods. However, urgent action is now needed to raise consumer awareness of these dangers. Although many countries have begun to implement public health measures to encourage people to eat less salt, we have not found that any countries require salt containers with warning signs.
Jaki Webster, director of the World Health Organization's Salt Reduction Cooperation Center, commented: "Adding health warnings to salt packaging and salt cans is an easy way to spread salt to billions of people around the world. "
