According to a report from Gulf News website on March 27 by Al Khobar, one of the shareholders stated on the 27th that a joint venture established by a local petrochemical company Saudi Butanol Company (SABUCO) has recently started the business of its butanol plant in Jubail.

The project, which was estimated to cost about 2 billion riyals ($533 million) when it was announced in 2012, was expected to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2015

This new butanol plant will have an annual production capacity of 330,000 tons of n-butanol and 11,000 tons of isobutanol
