    Scientists discover new oncogenic transcription factors for colorectal cancer

    Recently, "Nature-Communication" published online the latest research results of Wuhan University's School of Life Sciences, "Colorectal cancer genome-wide atlas analysis identified carcinogenic super enhancers PHF19 and TBC1D16"


    This study provides a comprehensive map of active enhancers in clinical tissues of colorectal cancer.


    Colorectal cancer is one of the malignant tumors with the highest morbidity and mortality in the world


    In this work, in order to establish a comprehensive colorectal cancer tissue activity enhancer map, the researchers established a study cohort of 73 pairs of colorectal cancer matched patient tissues (tumors and adjacent tissues from the same patient), and finally obtained 147 H3K27ac ChIP-Seq, 144 RNA-Seq, 147 whole-genome sequencing and 86 H3K4me3 ChIP-Seq samples were collected


    The researchers experimentally verified the function of 10 gain VSELs in colorectal cancer cell lines.


    The researchers also predicted a number of key transcription factors in colorectal cancer through motif analysis and core regulatory circuit analysis, and studied the functions of these transcription factors through experiments, and found that the inhibition of the expression of transcription factor KLF3 effectively inhibits colorectal cancer cells.


    It is reported that doctoral students Li Qinglan, Lin Xiang, and Chen Lin of the School of Life Sciences of Wuhan University, and Yu Yali, a master student of the Second Clinical Medical College of Wuhan University, are the co-first authors of the paper; Professor Wu Min, School of Life Sciences, Wuhan University, Department of Gastroenterology, Zhongnan Hospital, Wuhan University Professor Ye Mei is the co-corresponding author
