In the process of domestication of wild soybeans to cultivated soybeans, the color of soybean seed coats has undergone a variety of color changes from black to yellow, brown, green, and multiple colors, which may be related to soybean quality.
Recently, the Key Laboratory of Molecular Epigenetics of the Ministry of Education of Northeast Normal University and the State Key Laboratory of Tea Biology and Resource Utilization of Anhui Agricultural University as the communication unit jointly published a research paper online in the "Journal of Experimental Botany", explaining the soybean species The synergistic regulation of MYBA2 and MYBR transcription factors on anthocyanin synthesis during the development of coat color provides a reference for revealing the transcriptional regulatory mechanism of soybean seed coat color formation.
The transcriptome results of soybean seed coats of different colors showed that GmMYBA2 and GmMYBR are highly expressed in soybean seed coats that accumulate anthocyanins.
Experimental analysis results show that GmMYBA2 can interact with the bHLH transcription factor GmTT8a to directly activate the expression of genes related to anthocyanin synthesis in soybeans.
The results of the study revealed the complex regulatory network behind soybean seed coat color-related loci, creating conditions for understanding the relationship between seed coat color and other seed contents.
