This laboratory is the third laboratory in this field in Spain after the agricultural food arbitration laboratory of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the National Food Center of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan).
Seed monitoring is part of Spain’s “National Control Plan for the Voluntary Release of Genetically Modified Organisms Used in Food and Feed Production”.
The plan was approved by the Spanish National Administration and relevant departments of the autonomous region in 2019 and has been included in the “National Food Chain Control Plan”.
Supplement other measures specified in the specific plan for other food and raw materials for animal feed in order to ensure compliance with the laws applicable to genetically modified organisms in the country.
