Recently, technicians in Xiaoheishan Provincial Nature Reserve, Longling County, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, were sorting out photos of wild animals and found a bird with black and white feathers and feather patterns very similar to blue and white porcelain spots

Zeng Wei, a technician from the Kunming Survey and Design Institute of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, identified it as a spotted fish dog of the genus Alcedo atthis
This peculiar spotted fish dog was photographed for the first time in the Xiaoheishan Reserve in Longling County, Yunnan Province, and belongs to a new record of wildlife in the county
.
This is also the 9th new record of wild animals (including 8 new records of birds) discovered in Longling County since 2021
Spotted fish dogs mainly live on the shores of open waters such as low mountains and plains, streams, rivers, and lakes
