Thailand has issued a total of five draft regulations for comments, including the Draft Health Claims, the Draft for Nutrition Labelling and the Draft for Prepackaged Food Labeling

In early October 2022, the Food and Drug Administration of Thailand jointly issued the "Health Claims Consultation Draft", "Nutrition Label Consultation Draft", "Prepackaged Food Labeling Consultation Draft", "Food Pesticide Residue Limit (No.
4) Consultation Draft", and "Natural Drinking Water Consultation Draft", all of which are open for comments until November 30, 2022

Draft Health Claims for Solicitation of Comments

The draft regulation sets out the categories of food health claims and the rules and conditions that must be met, the requirements for labeling health claims, and the following schedule stipulates the claims for nutrients and the conditions for the
use of food ingredients.

Draft Nutrition Labeling

THE DRAFT REGULATION STIPULATES THE CATEGORIES OF FOOD THAT NEED TO BE LABELED WITH NUTRITION LABELS, THE DEFINITIONS OF TERMS RELATED TO NUTRITION LABELS, THE RULES AND CONDITIONS THAT NUTRITION LABELS MUST MEET, AND ATTACHES 4 ANNEXES TO STIPULATE THE FORMAT AND CONDITIONS OF THE NUTRITION FACTS TABLE, THE METHOD OF DETERMINING THE AMOUNT OF FOOD IN ONE SERVING AND THE NUMBER OF SERVINGS PER CONTAINER, THAI REFERENCE DAILY INTAKES - THAI RDIs, and the criteria for
labeling nutrition claims on food labels.

Draft for Comments on Prepackaged Food Labeling

The draft regulation repels the regulations and their amendments that originally required the labelling of prepackaged foods, and re-establishes the requirements for the labelling of
prepackaged foods.
The draft regulation defines terms related to food labelling, such as: prepackaged food, expiration (expiration), best before date, portioning, allergens, color, specifies the types of food that are exempt from prepackaged food labelling, the language and picture that prepackaged food labels must meet, etc.

Draft for Solicitation of Comments on the Limit of Pesticide Residues in Food (No.
4).
。 The draft regulation mainly amends the MRLs for carbaryl in mangosteen, the MRLs for thiametoxam, imidacloprid, and dinotefuran in pineapples, and the MRLs for fluopyram and trifloxystrobin in mango and
longan.

Draft for Solicitation of Comments on Natural Mineral Water.
The draft regulation stipulates that natural mineral water in sealed packaging is classified as a quality standardized food, stipulates the specific types of natural mineral water, the quality or standards that natural mineral water should have before packaging, and the quality or standards and labeling requirements
of natural mineral water in sealed packaging.
