It is reported that Indorama of Thailand stated that the company has completed the previously announced purchase of BP's petrochemical plant in Decatur, Alabama, USA on March 31
.
The plant is designed to produce 1 million tons of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and 720,000 tons of p-xylene per year
.
BP Decatur Petrochemical Plant is also the world's only commercial production base of naphthalene dicarboxylic acid, which is an intermediate for the production of polyethylene naphthalate polyester and resin

Indorama said that the acquired assets are close to Indorama's AlphaPet polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plant in Decatur, which is its main PTA supplier
