According to Thailand’s PBS World report, on April 4, officials from the Ministry of Agriculture of Thailand seized about 50 tons of durians from an export warehouse in Chanthaburi province after finding that some durians were not yet ripe .

The inspection team randomly inspected the Mon Thong durians in the warehouse, which have been packed into cartons and are ready to be exported to the Chinese market
    .
Some of the two boxes of durians that were randomly inspected were not yet ripe and were identified as substandard products, and then the inspectors asked to open more cartons for inspection
    .

According to reports, the renter of the warehouse is a Chinese trader
    .
Agriculture ministry officials said it could take two days to inspect all 50 tons of durians
    .
Before the inspection is completed, the warehouse manager has the opportunity to take the initiative to pick out the raw durians
    .

The official warned that if more than 10 percent of the exported durians are found to be immature, the warehouse owners, the growers and pickers involved could all face charges
    .
If found guilty, it will be punishable by up to three years in prison and/or a fine of 6,000-100,000 baht (11.
    38-19,000 yuan)
    .

According to reports, the durians in the warehouse came from the neighboring province of Changwat Trat
    .
During the inspection, three trucks arrived at the warehouse one after another, all of which were full of durians
    .
Ministry of Agriculture officials inspected the durians on the truck and found some unripe fruits among them
    .

Every March to May is the beginning of the durian season in Thailand, and a small number of durians will be on the market one after another
    .
Due to the small quantity and high price, there will be growers and middlemen who pick and export unripe durians without permission to obtain higher profits
    .
Every year Chinese buyers complain about getting raw Thai fruit, forcing the Thai government to take a tough stance on growers, exporters and pickers
