Causal analysis and modeling of the influence of water level regulation on the dynamics of algae blooms

The running water does not rot, and the household hinges are not worms

Xiangxi River Ecosystem Experimental Station of the Three Gorges Reservoir (long-term monitoring sample point)

Algae blooms in the bay of the Three Gorges Reservoir

The study found that there is a non-linear relationship between the fluctuation of the Three Gorges Reservoir's water level and the daily dynamics of phytoplankton chlorophyll a .

This study reported for the first time the nonlinear causal effect of ΔWL on the dynamics of phytoplankton chlorophyll a , and provided a new method for controlling algae blooms in reservoirs based on quantitative water level regulation, which can be applied to rapid control of phytoplankton blooms in reservoirs and similar water bodies

The work was recently published online on Science of The Total Environment under the title "Nonlinear causal analysis reveals an effective water level regulation approach for phytoplankton blooms controlling in reservoirs" ( https://doi.
