Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, February 26 (Reporter Wei Mengjia) Li Changhui of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Peking University School of Technology, recently proposed a new method of ultrasound detection of pure optics, based on which high-resolution photo-acoustic imaging of living animals was successfully achieved.
this study is of positive significance to the promotion of optical and acoustic detection methods and their application in biomedical science.
After a long study, Li Changhui's research team proposed a "detection method based on polarization light reflection", the principle of which is to detect the difference in the light strength of the same beam of light reflected on the surface of the transparent prism.
detection method can suppress a large number of common mode noise, greatly improve the sensitivity of the system.
now, they have used this detection method to successfully achieve non-invasive photoelectonic microscopic imaging of the ears of living mice.
researchers believe that this new method of pure optical ultrasonic detection is simple to operate, does not require any special optical processing, can be easily applied to most optical tests, and helps China's research and application in the field of optics and ultrasound.
next step, the team will further improve the sensitivity and stability of the system and combine it with other modals.
the results have been published in optical journal Optical Express.
photosound imaging technology combines the imaging advantages of pure optical tissue and pure ultrasound tissue, can effectively carry out biological tissue structure and functional imaging, for the study of biological tissue morphological structure, physiological characteristics, pathological characteristics, metabolic functions and other important means, especially suitable for early detection and treatment of cancer monitoring.
