Research Group of the Key Laboratory of the Institute of Environmental Biotechnology of the Ecological Environment Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has long been devoted to exploring the interaction between species in ecological community using ecological network analysis methods. Recently, the research group built a two-point network analysis method and analysis platform for exploring the interoperability between plant and microbial species, and made progress in exploring the ecological network analysis methods of macro and micro species. The findings were recently published online in Molecular Ecological Resources.
macro-ecosystem, the ecological network between cross-domain species has always been a hot research topic. However, in the above-ground-underground community ecology of natural ecosystems, the interaction between plants and microorganisms has not been well analyzed on the regional scale.
the project team proposed to build a cross-border ecological network method (IDEN) between plants and microorganisms using micro-high-volume molecular detection data and macro vegetation survey data, and set up a corresponding open analysis platform. Using the platform, Deng Wei's team and Zhang Yuguang, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of For betterines, systematically analyzed data on above-ground plant and subsurorasic soil microbiomes in 30 forest ecosystems in China along the latitude gradient.
results show that cross-border ecological networks at the regional scale have high connection, nested structure, asymmetric specificity and modular structure and other network topological properties. In addition, plants exhibit certain preferences for specific microbiomes. Analysis of local scale ecological networks at different locations also revealed that specific plants have coexisting microbial species in different regions.
study demonstrates the coexistence of plants and microorganisms in natural ecosystems and will contribute to a better understanding of the hierarchy between multiple straddly biological species in biomes in the future. (Source: Feng Lifei, China Science Journal)
