Economic Daily - China Economic Net, November 13, Beijing News reporter (Liu Xiaoxiao Shilan) Recently, the Beijing Municipal Market Supervision Bureau found that vanillin was found in a batch of Xibao 1st stage milk powder during a random inspection, which has attracted widespread attention
According to the report, the product involved is the Xibao Beixi infant formula milk powder (0-6 months, 1 stage), which is produced by the nominal NUTRIBIO and operated by the fourth branch of Beijing Golden Future Trading Co.
According to the current GB2760-2014 "National Food Safety Standard for the Use of Food Additives", the addition of edible flavors is not allowed in infant formula for infants aged 0-6 months
In response, Xibao issued a statement in response, saying that it did not actively add vanillin or other edible flavors to the first stage milk powder
Coincidentally, German Xibao is not the only brand recently found to contain vanillin in a milk powder
Although recently imported milk powder has been frequently detected as substandard vanillin, experts said that vanillin does not actually have the effect of poisoning infants
That is to say, in a milk powder, vanillin is not necessary to be added, although the use of flavors within the specified dose has no safety risk
Experts in the industry believe that it is not necessary to add flavors to infant formula milk powder of stage 2 and 3
Experts said that when consumers identify whether milk powder has added flavor, they cannot fully judge from the smell alone
