On June 25, 2021, Ye Keqiong's research group from the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Du Lilin's research group from the Beijing Institute of Biological Sciences jointly published a titled "Molecular and structural mechanisms of ZZ domain-mediated cargo selection " in The EMBO Journal.

Autophagy is the process of transporting cytoplasmic material to lysosomes, which is essential for maintaining cell homeostasis

The study first found that Nbr1 can bind to two new cargo proteins-mannosidase Ams1 and aminopeptidase Ape4, and also determined that these two proteins competitively bind to the first ZZ domain of Nbr1

The work was completed in cooperation with the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Beijing Institute of Biological Sciences.
