Acute Type A Aortic Dissection (ATAAD) is a catastrophic disease with a sudden onset and a dangerous onset.
Recently, the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (JTCVS) published the research results of Wang Chunsheng, professor of cardiology surgery at Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University, on the application of David's surgery to the treatment of acute aortic dissection
The study included aortic root replacement surgery at Zhongshan Hospital due to acute type A aortic dissection since the great blood vessel surgery team pioneered the use of the extremely difficult David operation for the treatment of acute aortic dissection in 2011.
Years of scientific practice have proved that this operation has the same safety as the traditional aortic root replacement surgery (Bentall surgery); and because the age of onset of aortic dissection in China is generally relatively young, this innovative technology is of great benefit to the majority of patients.
The patients in this study were divided into Bentall group (93 cases) and David group (55 cases) according to the root surgery performed.
By comparing the early postoperative indicators of the two groups of patients, it can be found that there are no significant differences in postoperative survival rates, valve-related complications and other major indicators, that is, the safety of David's operation is not inferior to that of Bentall's operation
In the medium and long-term follow-up, the researchers found that David's operation has a more superior trend in patients with cardiovascular mortality, valve-related complications, and heart failure readmission rates
