A meta-analysis conducted by scholars at the University of Maryland in the United States showed that a person's blood type may be associated

The study found that people with early stroke were most likely to have blood type A and less likely

Compared with healthy people, people with early and late stroke are also more likely to have blood

Adjustments to sex and other factors found that people with type A blood had a 16 percent higher risk of early stroke than other blood types, and people with type O blood had a 12 percent

However, the researchers also noted that the increased risk was smaller, and people with blood type A did not need to be nervous, or go to the hospital for additional tests

As for why blood type A carries a higher risk, the researchers say it may be related to platelets, intravascular cells and clotting factors

Previous studies have shown that people with blood type A have a slightly higher

The meta-analysis included 48 studies on genetic and ischemic stroke, including 17,000 stroke patients and nearly 600,000 healthy control populations
