Alpine grassland is the most important ecosystem of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with an area of 1.
    27×108hm2
    .
Due to the vast area, complex topography and harsh natural conditions of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which seriously affect the restoration of degraded grasslands and the improvement of grassland ecological production functions, there are many key scientific and technological problems
such as unclear background and occurrence area, unclear degradation process and mechanism, poor sustainability of restored grasslands, and easy secondary degradation.

Based on this, the research team of Zhou Huakun, Key Laboratory of Restoration Ecology of Qinghai Province, Northwest Plateau Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, joined hands with 9 scientific research, teaching and technology promotion, including China Agricultural University, Qinghai Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qinghai Grassland General Station, Qinghai Academy of Animal Science and Veterinary Sciences, and Qinghai Grassland Improvement Experimental Station.
And the relevant technology models will be widely promoted and applied
    .
The research results won the first prize of the 2021-2022 Pratacultural Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Grassland Society, and the Northwest Plateau Institute was the first to complete it, and researcher Zhou Huakun was the first completer
    .

The main achievements include the systematic study of the degradation process and mechanism of alpine grassland on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and the evaluation of the health status of alpine grassland at different temporal and spatial scales.
The degradation information database of alpine grassland on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was established, and the three-dimensional planting zoning of topography + climate + soil of four native pastures on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was compiled.
Based on the concept of adaptive restoration of degraded alpine grassland and coordinated improvement of eco-production functions, a series of restoration technologies and management models with different characteristics according to local conditions have been developed.
One Sanjiangyuan Black Soil Beach Treatment Standardization Demonstration Zone (national level, Sanjiangyuan District) and one Demonstration Zone for Standardization of Light and Moderate Degraded Grassland Treatment (provincial level, Qinghai Lake Rim
    ) have been established.
