Recently, the team of Professor Qingbo He and Professor Zhike Peng from the State Key Laboratory of Mechanical Systems and Vibration of Shanghai Jiaotong University published an online research paper entitled "Stimuli-responsive metamaterials with information-driven elastodynamics programming" in the sister journal Matter of Cell.
Biological stimulus responsiveness is the ability to show adaptive functional responses to external environmental stimuli.
Information-driven elastodynamic programming of stimulus-response metamaterials
In order to solve this dynamic problem, the researchers designed a biomimetic stimulus response metamaterial that realizes information-driven elastic dynamics programming.
This concept creates a brand-new mechanical reading and writing operation, and realizes the proprioception of stimulating information under a full-material structure
The research work was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Innovative Research Group and General Program, and the "Ten Thousand Talents Program" Youth Top Talent Support Program of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China
