The United States imposes import restrictions on resin coatings.

.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a final rule imposing import restrictions on 22 chemical substances that must be notified to officials before they are produced. The Rules provide that any person who intentionally produces (including imports) or processes a chemical substance for an activity classified as an important new use must inform the EPA at least 90 days before the start of the activity to give it the opportunity to evaluate the new use and, if necessary, to prohibit or restrict the activity.
The chemicals regulated by the rules are used as heat transfer fluids, industrial plastic flame retardants, polymer reaction reactants, resin
coatings
, water purifier intermediates, insecticide and fertilizer additives, adhesive resins for electronic materials, industrial leather softeners, luminescent diode wafer components, plastic form regulators, industrial ink and dye components, lubricant additives, intermediates for polymer production, and other uses.importers must demonstrate that these imported chemicals comply with all applicable rules and orders under the Toxic Substances Control Act, including important new use requirements. In addition, any person who exports or intends to export these substances shall comply with the export notice provisions of Section 2611 (b) of Volume 15 of the United States Code and the export notification requirements of Section 707 D of Volume 40 of the United States Federal Code.
if the EPA receives a written objection or criticism (or notice of intention to submit the opinion) by 6 July, it will withdraw the relevant part of the rules before the effective date. Otherwise, the rules will take effect on August 4.
