Three-dimensional structure detailed analysis of new details of new coronavirus infection |
Help develop new therapies and vaccines |
Science and Technology Daily, Beijing, September 15 (Reporter Liu Xia ) According to a report by the Physicist Organization Network on the 14th, Australian scientists have conducted the most comprehensive analysis of the three-dimensional structure of the new coronavirus.
They compiled more than 2,000 of 27 new coronavirus proteins.
This structure reveals new details of how this virus infects human cells and replicates, and helps researchers develop better new coronavirus vaccines and therapies, as well as further research on new mutant strains of the new coronavirus
.
To better understand the biological process of the new coronavirus, the team led by Sean O'Donog of the Gavin Medical Institute determined the three-dimensional shape of the individual proteins that make up the cell or virus
.
He said: "The three-dimensional structure of the protein provides us with atomic resolution information about the composition of the new coronavirus, which is essential for the development of vaccines or treatments for different parts of the virus
The research team found that the three coronavirus proteins NSP3, NSP13, and NSP16 can "imitate" human proteins, which enables the new coronavirus to better hide out of the human immune system and may lead to the emergence of new mutations
.
In addition, the five coronavirus proteins NSP1, NSP3, spike glycoprotein, envelope protein and ORF9b will "hijack" or destroy human cells, thereby helping the virus control, complete its life cycle and spread to other cells
The researchers said: "We have also discovered 8 coronavirus proteins that self-assemble with each other.
By analyzing how they assemble, we have obtained new information about how the virus replicates its genome
.
After considering the overlap, we believe that there are still 14 proteins.
It is reported that in order to make it easier for researchers to obtain all these insights and data, the team designed a new visualization method-structural overlay
.
The picture highlights their understanding of the new coronavirus and what has yet to be revealed
Researchers said that the latest analysis will help scientists to further carry out related research
.
So far, most research on coronaviruses has focused on spike protein, which is the main target of current vaccines.
