At the annual meeting of the World Coatings Council, Tom Bowtell, CEO of the British Coatings Alliance, was selected as the vice president.
The World Coatings Council is an association composed of representatives from the United States, China, the European Union, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, Japan, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Turkey, France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
The Council provides a forum for exchanges and cooperation on major issues and priorities facing the industry, and has become the global voice of the United Nations, governments and non-governmental organizations.
Bouter said: "After the UK decided to withdraw from the European Union, BCF is eager to contribute to the major issues affecting the global coatings industry.
It is my honor to be trusted by industry colleagues from associations around the world.
" The most important issue for the coatings industry to pay attention to.
One is the sustainability agenda.
"Tom was elected as the vice president of the World Coatings Council unanimously supported by colleagues in the industry.
I am very happy to have such an experienced and active deputy as president in my last year.
" Said Andy Doyle, CEO of the World Coatings Council and President of the American Coatings Association.
It is expected that after serving as vice president for 12 months, Bouter will take over as president at the next WCC annual meeting to be held in March 2022.
