In February of this year, Uganda exported 563,763 bags of coffee (60 kg), valued at US$50.
    55 million.

The Minister of Agriculture Vincent Ssempijja said that the recent increase in coffee exports is due to the increase in production in coffee-growing areas and the simplification of transportation and logistics from the farm to the market due to travel restrictions.
He said that during this period, many exporters decided to store their inventory in warehouses until the market situation changed.
“For example, during the blockade, it was difficult to transport coffee from the farm to the port.
The reason for the continued price increase in the past few months is that we have resolved the logistics, delays and bureaucracy in the port of Mombasa.

Uganda’s goal is to export 20 million bags of coffee by 2022, which will enable the country to compete with large coffee producing countries such as Ethiopia, Vietnam and Brazil.
