China is the third largest destination market for Uzbek dairy products in 2020, accounting for 9% of Uzbekistan ’s total dairy product exports .
However, in the first eight months of this year, this proportion has increased to 26%, making it the largest export destination for Uzbekistan.
Exports of products reached 35,454 tons, including 30,577 tons of whole milk powder , more than three times the same period last year

At present, Uruguayan dairy products are required to pay tariff rates when exporting to China: whey 6%, milk powder and butter 10%, cheese 12%, ultra-high temperature sterilized milk and infant formula milk powder 15%
.
New Zealand and Australia, the main competitors of Uzbekistan's dairy products, have signed free trade agreements with China, and will achieve zero-tariff entry of dairy products into the Chinese market in 2024 and 2028, respectively

Fernandez, director of Conaprole, the largest dairy company in Uzbekistan and candidate for chairman of Uzbek Dairy Industry Association, said that if the free trade agreement cannot be signed, Uzbek products will be at a relatively disadvantaged position in the face of competition from New Zealand and other countries.
