The results of mechanical thrombus removal after acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients undergoing emergency large vessel occlusion (ELVO) are related to time.

The most common delay from admission to inguinal puncture (DGPT) is pre-hospital delay.

Therefore, in order to evaluate the difference in the DGPT of mechanical thrombectomy patients before and after the implementation of the Emergency Great Vascular Occlusion Screening Scale [VenturaELVO Score (VES)], Professor Syed’s team conducted a retrospective study.
The results of the study were reported by the American Academy of Neurology in 2021.
(AAN) announced at the annual meeting.

Research Introduction The researchers used retrospective analysis to compare the DGPT of patients before and after mechanical thrombectomy.

The study reported the mean and standard deviation of the continuous variable "intra-arterial thrombectomy time (IAT)" in minutes.

The Shapiro-Wilk test was used for normal variables, and the Mann-Whitney U test was used for non-normal variables.

Main findings: ➤Among 304 stroke patients, 139 patients had a positive VES score.

    Among them, 75 cases (54%) were women, and 57 cases (41%), 44 cases (31.
    6%), 31 cases (22.
    3%), and 7 cases (5%) had VES scores of 1, 2, and 3.
    And 4.

➤48 of the VES-positive patients received IAT treatment.

62 patients received IAT treatment before VES assessment.

After the VES score, the patients' average DGPT of IAT treatment was 65 minutes, which was significantly lower than the average DGPT of 109 minutes before the VES score (p=0.
0009).  Research conclusions VES score has higher sensitivity, specificity and accuracy.

The results of this study showed that compared with the patients before the VES score, the DGPT of the patients after the VES score was significantly reduced.
