From SeafoodNews on March 17, Vietnam’s National Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Quality Assurance (Nafiqad) said that as many as 52 batches of seafood exported to China from 36 Vietnamese enterprises were found to be carrying the SARS-CoV-2 virus and were returned .

The virus has been detected in product packaging, in containers and in seafood
    .

In addition to suspending import procedures, China has repeatedly conducted online checks on businesses found to be carrying the virus, Nafiqad said
    .
Given the current epidemic situation in Vietnam and China's "epidemic clearing" policy, if solutions are not found in time, the volume of goods returned to Vietnam will be even greater, causing serious losses and damaging the reputation of Vietnam's fishing industry
    .

Nafiqad requires local companies to strengthen the prevention and control of the new crown virus during the production and export of seafood to China, especially employees who pack and transport products must wear masks during working hours, wash their hands regularly, and receive regular COVID-19 tests
    .
Local seafood exporters should also study and follow the coronavirus disinfection guidelines for producers and traders of frozen products issued by the General Administration of Customs of China
    .

Statistics from the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exports and Producers (VASEP) show that in the first two months of this year, Vietnam exported seafood worth US$1.
5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 51%, of which US$168 million was exported to China.
, a surge of 91% over the same period last year
