WHO: Cholera vaccine shortage temporarily halts the two-dose strategy

On October 19, local time, WHO said that due to the tight global cholera vaccine supply, the international coordination group managing emergency vaccine supply was forced to temporarily suspend the standard two-dose cholera vaccination regimen in favor of a single-dose method

WHO stresses that this is a short-term solution and that urgent action is needed to increase global cholera vaccine production
in order to solve the problem in the long term.

Since January, cholera cases have been reported in 29 countries, including Haiti, Malawi and Syria
, which face large outbreaks.
Global cholera outbreak trends are moving towards more, wider and more severe due to floods, droughts, conflicts, population movements and other factors that limit access to clean water and increase the risk of cholera
