Increased capacity helps BASF provide quality products in a timely and stable manner to better serve its customers
further support customers in the use of mild surfactant formulations based on natural, renewable raw materials in home and personal care productsas part of BASF's capacity optimization project announced in 2018, BASF expanded its Alkyl Glycoside (APG) production facility at its Jinshan production site in Shanghai, adding 10,000 tons of capacity. With this expansion, the company's APG production capacity at the base increased from 20,000 tons to 30,000 tons. In addition, BASF has completed initial infrastructure and other preparations to rapidly increase production capacity by another 10,000 tons in the near future, thereby doubling the base's production capacity by
. This will help BASF better support the market and meet the growing needs of its customers.as a surfactant, APG is widely used in personal care products such as cleansing, bathing and shampooing for its mild properties and the advantages of improving foam. They are also used in home care applications, including tableware detergents, laundry detergents and surface cleaning products, as well as micro-emulsion formulations in agro-applications. In addition, the benefits of APG include compatibility with a wide range of surfactants and other ingredients resulting from its non-ion properties, as well as manufacturing with 100% natural, renewable raw materials."The home and personal care market is increasingly focusing on mild natural ingredients based on renewable raw materials, and APG will play an important role in the formulation composition of these products," said Dr. Jianwen Mao, Vice President of Business Management for Greater China, BASF's Care Chemicals division. This expansion will help BASF continue to meet strong Demand in Asia. Close to the market, BASF will continue to achieve sustainable growth by providing high-quality products.
Rajan Venkatesh, Senior Vice President, Care Chemicals, BASF Care Chemicals, said: "By optimizing production, BASF is committed to providing reliable services to our customers locally and in Asia. The production site in Jinshan is an important part of BASF's global APG production network, ensuring business continuity for customers worldwide. THEBASF's production site in Jinshan is part of a global production network certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). At BASF, we strive to live up to the requirements of global sustainability while actively promoting economic development.
