Ferritin is the main storage mode of iron in the body.

The study recruited 244 outpatients with liver cirrhosis, and planned to follow up for all patients for 2 years.

The results of the study found that the serum levels of ferritin in men and elderly patients were higher than those in women (median: 152.

Therefore, this study finally confirmed that serum ferritin can be an effective biomarker for the prognosis of patients with liver cirrhosis, and pointed out that both low and high concentrations of ferritin need attention in these patients.
