On 12 December 2007, Brazil issued technical regulations on the use of edible sweeteners as food additives.
this draft technical regulation approves the expansion of the use of sweeteners as food additives, as follows: INS Food Additives Functional Foods Maximum Limit (g/100g, or g/100mL) 417 Tara Bean Gum Thickener Liquid Sweetener Appropriate Amount 464 HydropylPhenophenol Hydrate Oxypropylmethyl cellulose thickener liquid sweetener moderate amount 507 hydrochloric acid liquid sweetener moderate amount 1201 polyethylene pyridoline Polyvinylpyrolidone stabilizer tablet sweetener 1.5 This regulation is intended to be approved and put into effect in January 2008.
