Aortic valve stenosis (AS) is a progressive disease that is related to a decrease in the aortic valve orifice and reduced leaflet activity due to calcium accumulation

It is related to the reduction of aortic valve orifice and the reduction of leaflet activity due to calcium accumulation

Methods: From August 2016 to April 2019, we recruited 50 AS patients with type 2 diabetes and 100 non-diabetic and AS patients of similar age and sex as the control group

Results: Compared with the non-diabetic group, the expression of NF-κB, BMP-2, FII and FKA in the diabetic group was increased (ALP≤0.

Type 2 diabetes can enhance local inflammation and coagulation activity in stenotic valves

Kopytek M, Mazur P, Ząbczyk M, Undas A, Natorska J,D iabetes concomitant to aortic stenosis is associated with increased expression of NF-κB and more pronounced valve calcification.
