Gastrointestinal (GI) perforation is a common surgical emergency with high morbidity and mortali.

A total of 104 patients were included in this study, of which 18 (13%), 59 (57%), and 27 (20%) underwent perforation repair, segmental anastomosis, and enterostomy, respective.

This study confirms that patients with small bowel perforation who are transferred to the ICU after emergency surgery are at high risk for postoperative complications and dea.
