Food processing aids are defined in GB2760-2014 "National Food Safety Standards for the Use of Food Additives" as: various substances that ensure the smooth progress of food processing, independent of the food itself

In CAC/GL 75-2010 "Guidelines for Substances Used as Processing Aids", a processing aid refers to any substance or material (excluding instruments or utensils, and not used as a food) that is intended to be used in the processing of raw materials, food or its ingredients Ingredient use) intended to serve a technical purpose during handling or processing and which may result in unintentional but unavoidable residues or derivatives in the final product

Such as extraction solvent n-hexane for plant processing by leaching method; clarification agent bentonite for beer processing; mold release agent carnauba wax for bakery food processing; peeling agent lauric acid for fruit and vegetable peeling processing

According to the provisions of GB2760, food processing aids are divided into three categories according to the differences in their use regulations

At work, how to distinguish the raw materials that are both general food additives and processing aids?

The food additives specified in Appendix A of GB2760 mainly play a functional role in food, and the processing aids specified in Appendix C mainly play a technological role in the production and processing of food, and do not play a functional role in the final food produced

When a substance is listed in both Appendix A and Appendix C, it should be used according to the corresponding regulations according to the function it plays

When it is both a general food additive and a processing aid, there is no difference in the implementation of product standards

Combining GB2760 and CAC/GL 75-2010, the principles for the use of food processing aids include: technological necessity

    Residue control

    Food grade quality

How can processing aids for food industry be compounded with other food additives to produce compound food additives?

According to the relevant provisions of GB2760, processing aids for food industry are only suitable for food production and processing, not for food additive production and processing

For the labeling requirements of food processing aids, GB7718-2011 "General Rules for the Labeling of Prepackaged Foods" stipulates that the ingredients list should be guided by "ingredients" or "ingredients list"
