    The study systematically evaluated depression and anxiety in gout patients, focusing on the prevalence, incidence, determinants and effects of these psychocolic disordersresearchers used index words and keywords to conduct literature searches in Medline, Embase, Cochrane System Evaluation Database, CINAHL, and PsycINFO to find studies that report depression/anxiety disorders in gout patientsThis systematic evaluation incorporates reports on the use of conventional methods to assess depression/anxiety in gout patients and provides full text of the report on the prevalence, incidence, determinants or impact estimates or sufficient data for depression/anxietyMeta-analysis is performed using a random effect model20 of the 901 articles found through search strategies met the inclusion criteriaAll 20 studies assessed depression, but only 10 assessed anxiety (50.0%)The meta-analysis showed a positive correlation between mental illness and gout, with a combined ratio of 1.29 (95% confidence interval of 1.07-1.56) and anxiety of 1.29 (95% CI 0.96-1.73)Based on four studies reporting on the incidence of depression in gout patients, the summary risk ratio was calculated at 1.17 (95% CI was 1.01-1.36)Important determinants of depression include the number of gout stones, the frequency of acute seizures, and oligo/multi-joint goutthis systematic evaluation showed that depression and anxiety were significantly associated with gout, and highlighted the need for future research to focus on the occurrence of post-gout diagnosis mental disorders and the identification of potential intervention targets
