Researchers selected participants from the Framingham Heart Study who were ≥55 years of age and who had not been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and had available measurements of neck circumference, BMI, and waist circumference

The study sample included 4093 participants (mean age 64±7 years, 55% female)
CONCLUSIONS: Greater neck circumference was associated with atrial fibrillation events after adjusting for traditional measures of obesity, such as BMI and waist circumference
